  8. A little tutorial on how to crack the protection of flash movies.
  9. The difficulty level is beginner. You should have a little experience in using a HexEditor.

  17. Cracking protected flash (swf) files.

  19. I've only tried this on Flash 4 so I don't know if it will work on Flash 5, but you can try it anyway.
  20. In this tutorial I will use a hexeditor (Hex Workshop v3.11) and version 4 of Macromedia's Flash.

  22. Ok first let me point out that what ever you will do with the little piece of knowledge,
  23. I am not responsable for any damage or worse.
  24. Please keep in mind that duplicating logo's and other pictures can be prohibited.

  27. OK.. the first thing we need to do is to get the SWF-file in a seperate directory.
  28. Here you can rename the file. (whatever you want)
  29. Make sure the file is NOT write protected.
  30. Start your HexEditor and search the 3rd character.

  32. 5304 58C3 0C00 7800 0753 0000 10CC

  34. Remember that every character has 2 hexadecimal bytes.
  35. So the third character in this case will be 58.
  36. Now remove 2 from the 58.. that will be 56.
  37. Replace the 58 in the hexeditor with 56

  41. The next thing to do is to search the 27th and 28th character.

  45. In this example the 27th and 28th characters form 0006.
  46. This code (0006) will come up in every protected flash file.
  47. Select the 2 characters and delete them.

  51. Now save your cracked swf-file and voila.
